The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan is one of the most popular fantasy novel series of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. And, while the final book, A Memory of Light, released in 2013, the franchise has lived on in various ways.
The Wheel of Time became more popular than ever with its television adaptation, which ran from 2021 to 2025, and new comic books continue to release regularly. Now, in 2027, The One Power is releasing to provide hours more of Wheel of Time entertainment.
The Wheel of Time Officially Returns With The One Power
In May 2026, a Kickstarter campaign was launched by Dire Wolf to fund an official Wheel of Time board game, "War of the Dragon". No simple low-effort affair, the game promised its own original story, a vast array of cards, miniatures, and other pieces, multiple ways to play, over 200 new illustrations, and a unique experience that would require players to strategize as they immersed themselves in the world of The Wheel of Time.
The crowdfunding goal was set at $50,000 USD, and this number was completely blown away. With the help of 6,156 backers, the campaign raised $1,166,993 USD.
In June 2027, "The One Power," the deluxe version of "War of the Dragon," the version to come with miniatures of the characters, will be released. Whereas only 603 backers chose to give $90 for the base game, 2,660 backers chose to give $123 for "The One Power."

The game can be played in multiple modes, with Hero Mode being for beginners, and Epic Mode being for those more experienced, with it adding in armies, important story objectives, and a massive Last Battle.
While "War of the Dragon" pulls its ideas from all 14 of Jordan's Wheel of Time novels, as directly stated by Dire Wolf, it was designed by Andy Clautice, Mike Mihealsick, and Ryan Schoon, with concept art and character designs by Raul Ramos.
"All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World," the introduction to the story on the game's Kickstarter page reads. "And him they named Dragon." The Kickstarter page goes on to describe the story as a conflict between the forces of light and darkness, "embodied in Rand al'Thor, The Dragon Reborn, and his eternal nemesis, The Dark One."
As far as "The One Power" is concerned, players who purchased this version of the game will receive 43 original miniatures. With so many characters included, fans of The Wheel of Time are likely to find their favorite among them.
The cancellation of the Wheel of Time television series hit fans hard, and it's still being mourned today, but with "The One Power," fans can continue to experience some of what made it great when it hits retail stores in the near future.
