Granblue Fantasy Composer Tsutomu Narita Steps Back from Leading Cygames Sound

Granblue Fantasy composer Tsutomu Narita has announced that he’s stepping back from leading Cygames Sound Team due to his schedule and “other factors.” Some of the music for Granblue Fantasy will be produced and composed by the sound team without his direct involvement, and supervision will be entrusted to them as well. 

Narita will still be involved with Cygames, and he intends to continue providing music for Cygames titles, including Granblue Fantasy. Alongside the announcement, the Stella Magna band, which included Narita, has announced its disbandment. 

Narita and Stella Magna’s statements have been translated below by Final Weapon staff writer and translator Ryuji:

Thank you as always for your continued support.

Starting this year, due my own schedule and other factors, some of the in-game music of the Granblue Fantasy mobile game will be produced by the Cygames’ sound team, with supervision will also be entrusted to them. Every single member of the Cygames sound team is exceptionally talented, so I leave it in their hands with complete confidence. I would be more than happy if you all continue to enjoy the music as always.

I have been involved with Granblue Fantasy as a composer and arranger since 2014, providing a vast number of tracks. I also had the opportunity to participate in numerous events such as concerts, and I am deeply grateful for the incredible care I received both as a creator and a performer. I’ve had so many wonderful experiences: adoring my favorite characters, sprinting through events (mostly Guild Wars), and being blessed with friends I still play with while chatting casually today. Over these past 12 years, I feel Granblue has become a monumental presence in my life, filling these years with countless memories.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the fans who have cherished the many soundtracks that I’ve composed, along with their gaming experience, and I want to extend a huge “thank you” to Cygames for granting me so many invaluable opportunities. I will still remain as busy as ever, and I hope to take on various new challenges moving forward. Whether in the same format as before or with something new, I would be truly grateful for your continued support whenever my work reaches your eyes or ears!

Additionally, I shall continue to consult with Cygames, and I intend to keep providing music for Cygames titles, including Granblue Fantasy. Therefore, I kindly ask for your continued support towards that game, as well as other titles and music provided by Cygames!

Stella Magna

Thank you for your support of Stella Magna. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the band, which had been active under the leadership of Tsutomu Narita since 2017, has now been disbanded as of September 17th.

Following this announcement, this account will be closed on September 30th. We apologize for those who were still looking forward to our appearances at live shows and events, but we would be grateful if you could continue to support the future musical endeavors of Narita and the other affiliated band members.

Once again, we express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported Stella Magna over these long 9 years. Truly, thank you.
