The Final Fantasy XI team is hard at work working on letting players re-experience the story. This is a good thing, and something that was originally mentioned at the start of the year, but as the latest preview for the September version update explains, it’s taking a lot of time to make sure that it’s right. That’s part of why this month’s update is a bit smaller, but it also does increase the maximum number of alter ego points you can allocate to your Trust’s stats (from 50 to 60). Players can also head from level 50 to level 75 as part of the free trial, with the time limit on the trial meant to be removed in late September as well.

The September update will also feature the usual Ambuscade rotation, with qutrubs and the hydra available to fight. And that’s on top of a stylish scythe weapon for the September login campaign, a new greatsword connected to the Shadow Lord with another run of The Shadow Lord’s Dominion, and other support campaigns running through the month. Check out the full preview to get a sense of what’s coming next.
