Final Fantasy Resonance Demo is Live in the eShop

Final Fantasy is finally entering the world of HD-2D. At least, that’s what all the marketing for Final Fantasy Resonance wants you to have at the forefront of your mind, but if nothing else it’s a return to more old school Final Fantasy RPGs than anything fans have seen in recent years. Resonance will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on October 22, 2026, but if you can’t wait that long to experience the game, Square Enix has put out a free demo. Behold:

Final Fantasy Resonance demo players will be able to experience the adventure all the way through to the end of the first chapter. And as is standard these days, your progression will carry on over to the final version of the game when it releases. Final Fantasy Resonance is described as a “tale of Crystals [featuring] a strategic turn-based battle system with a modern twist, the return of chocobos, espers and airships, in addition to appearances from beloved Final Fantasy characters such as Cloud, Tidus and the Warrior of Light – all presented in stunning, retro-inspired HD-2D graphics that push the limits of pixel art.”
