The Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy will see the release of its final installment next April, and it's celebrating the occasion with a new $500 collector's edition. Square Enix has undertaken this years-long project to reimagine one of the series' most influential games into three separate titles, and the complete package will be bundled together with a bunch of other goodies—but it's only available in Japan.
Being sold in limited quantities, the Final Fantasy 7Remake Series Complete Edition is listed by Square Enix for a fitting ¥77,777, or just over $500. The collection includes all three games—Remake, Rebirth, and Revelation—in steel cases, alongside interlocking figures of Cloud, Sephiroth, and Zack, an art book, a mini soundtrack, display stands with dummy discs for each game, and more. The FF7R Complete Edition also comes with entitlement to Revelation's two planned story expansions.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy Gets Massive Complete Edition for Revelation's Release
This Complete Edition is essentially an expanded version of the FF7 Revelation Collector's Edition, which already costs ¥57,596 (about $375), but only includes the third game. The dummy disc display stands are the biggest difference between the two—each on bears the steel case artwork and holds a disc which is not loaded with the game files.
There is also a keychain modeled after the original, polygonal version of Cloud from the PlayStation 1 version first released in 1997. In addition to the physical items, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Series Complete Edition has a few in-game bonuses, like a couple of exclusive Summon Materia, and a handful of items for characters to equip.
Square Enix's listing notes that the two Revelation story expansions will both release sometime between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028. The first will be an expansion focused on Sephiroth, while the second is about Vincent Valentine and the Turks. Since Revelation is the conclusion of the trilogy, it's likely that both DLCs are prequels, illuminating Sephiroth and Vincent's exploits before or during the earlier parts the FF7 saga.
A Huge Collector's Edition for a Monumental Release
Double-dipping for those who already have physical copies of Remake and Rebirth may be a tough sell, but it's a fittingly bold collector's edition for the reimagined FF7 trilogy. Remake boldly toyed with numerous story elements of one of gaming's most vaunted RPGs, recontextualizing what's possible in a remake in the process. Releasing over the course of seven years, and in development for longer, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy has been an ambitious undertaking.
Rebirth was already a sprawling adventure, set loose from the confines of Midgar that kept Remake fairly linear, but Revelation is now a truly massive open-world game, letting players leap from their airship and skydive to any location across Gaia. Final Fantasy 7 already had plenty of fans, the Remake trilogy created many more, and now this Collector's Edition is a fitting, if expensive, celebration of the saga.
