Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion Launches Today for Nintendo Switch 2

During today’s Nintendo Direct, Square Enix shared that Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion arrives on Nintendo Switch 2… today. That’s right, you can pick up the remastered prequel to Final Fantasy VII for Switch 2 right now.

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion is a 2022 remaster of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, a 2007 action RPG for the PSP. It begins seven years before the events of Final Fantasy VII, telling the story of Zack Fair. Zack is a SOLDIER working for Shinra, teaming up with Sephiroth to track down a missing operative. In addition to Sephiroth, it features a number of characters from the 1997 game in smaller roles. Despite being a prequel, it’s best played after Final Fantasy VII. Zack Fair himself is a bit of a spoiler.

That said, you could also check out Final Fantasy VII Remake and then Crisis Core followed by Rebirth. Now, all three of these games are on Nintendo Switch 2. And next year, the Remake series will cap off with Final Fantasy VII Revelation on April 8th, 2027. As such, now is a great time to catch up ahead of the final game.

While Remake and Rebirth reimagine the events of the first two-thirds of Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion is a remaster of the original Crisis Core. It boasts a complete HD graphics overhaul, a remastered soundtrack, a reimagined UI, and an updated combat system.
